A Beginner’s Guide to Boost Biology with NutriSoil
Introduction
Whether you’re a large-scale farmer or a home gardener, biology is central to healthy soils and resilient plants. This guide helps you confidently incorporate NutriSoil into your growing system – without overthinking it.
Getting Started: What You Need to Know
- Biology works in parts per trillion, as does NutriSoil – you don’t need large volumes to see results.
- You can begin simply, scale as confidence grows, and reduce fertilisers and chemicals over time.
- NutriSoil contains a diverse range of biological life, forming one of the foundational building blocks, providing cumulative benefits of biologically active soils.
Here’s how to get started.
Broadacre Farming
At Sowing
- Inoculate your seeds with NutriSoil at 5L per tonne of seed, (125mls of NutriSoil per 25kg bag).
- Drip/spray the NutriSoil into the auger/hopper as it goes into the Grouper or Seeder
- You can use a hand pump or backpack to spray it on, some people use a 12V pump connected to the tank on their quad bike
- You can use a cement mixer or even just pour it into the seed box with a shower head watering can
- In furrow, apply 5L to the hectare if you have the capacity to liquid inject
In Crop
- Use NutriSoil as a foliar application during tillering and before flowering at 5L to the hectare
- Mix NutriSoil with your nutrient application to increase nutrient uptake and efficiency – apply within 16 hours of mixing
In Pastures
- Apply NutriSoil in Autumn and Spring, when plants are growing, at a rate of 5L to the hectare – incorporate with nutrients (if required) to increase efficiency (apply within 16 hours of mixing)
NutriSoil Castings
- The use of NutriSoil Castings in broadacre agriculture is growing as our knowledge and confidence in biology grows, you can
- Apply 250kg-500kg to the hectare using a belt spreader
- Apply 70kg to 1000L of liquid using a Tow & Fert
- Or use 70kg of castings per 1000L to make a vermi-compost extract

Top Tips for Farmers
The number one tip is – Don’t Overthink It!
- Biology works in parts per trillion, so don’t overthink seed coating, even the smallest amount will make a difference.
- Use NutriSoil to buffer your herbicide use. The plants will take up the herbicide much more efficiently, meaning it will work at a faster rate and you’ll be able to reduce your herbicide application rate. When using a selective herbicide, non-selective plants bounce back more quickly.
- When mixing with a nutrient foliar application, ensure you apply within 16 hours of tank mixing, the nutrients will affect your microbe amount and diversity.
- In hot weather, apply early morning or in the evening, and don’t spray above 30oC, if you can avoid it.
- Start with seed inoculation and as you gain confidence, incorporate more biology through NutriSoil products into the system.
- DON’T go cold turkey. There is a common saying – you need to earn the right to farm biologically. You may never eliminate synthetics, and that is ok. But over time you can significantly reduce them and may be able to eliminate fungicides and pesticides at some stage, resulting in much healthier soils and crops.
- Experiment gradually and find out what works best for you.
Gardeners
At Planting
- Add NutriSoil Castings (1 tablespoon to 1 cup, depending on the size of the plant) to the hole you are putting your plant (shrub, tree or seedling) into
- Dip the roots of your plant into NutriSoil liquid neat (undiluted) prior to planting
Established Plants
- Add 250g (1 cup) of NutriSoil Castings to the base of the plant each year (you can use more if it is a larger tree)
- Give a foliar application of NutriSoil liquid in Autumn and Spring to the leaf of the plant at a rate of 10ml of NutriSoil liquid per litre of water
Vegetable Gardens / Flowering Plants
- Add 500g of NutriSoil Castings per square metre at planting
- Apply 10ml of NutriSoil liquid per litre of water every 2 weeks
Lawns and Turf
- Spread 250g – 500g of NutriSoil Castings per square metre of lawn 1 – 2 times a year
- When establishing new lawn or laying turf water the NutriSoil Castings in with 10ml of Nutrisoil Biological Solution per litre of water
- Apply 10ml of NutriSoil per square metre in Autumn and Spring, or more regularly in the growing season
Pot Plants
- Mix one part NutriSoil Castings with four parts potting mix when potting a new plant
- Sprinkle small amounts of Nutrisoil Castings regularly on the top of existing pot plants
- Mist spray pot plants with 10ml of NutriSoil liquid per litre of water on a regular basis

Top tips for Gardeners
The number one tip is – Don’t Overthink It!
- If you put one or two capfuls of NutriSoil Biological Solution (liquid) into a 9L watering can, then that will be fine, it doesn’t have to be an exact science.
- If you don’t apply to flowering plants and vegetables every two weeks, then once a month is fine.
- Biology works in parts per trillion, so just get some out there!
